Taking the names of characters from his lyrics and poems, Chris has often used these as epithets for his lyrical alter ego. Boy Abyss, Kid Cataclysm, Gun, the Dagger Poet are among them.
Quite recently he discovered that the bird, the Shrike—that coincidentally he has used in his lyrics (Here lies the prayer of the praying mantis/ on the thorn of the grey-backed shrike)—in Japanese is pronounced “mozu”. On enquiring into the ideographic construction of the word, he found it to be hiyaku shita or "one hundred tongues." Surely a most appropriate reading!
Today his hanko or seal is carved in this symbolism.
